Plinth bricks, also known as chamfered bricks within the industry, are a splayed brick that create changes within the depth of brick work elevations. They are generally used for window cills, corbelling details as well as capping. Also for kerbs, to create a double or single course splay often at the bottom of a building.
Variation of Plinth Brick
Variations of Plinths include cant stops, headers, stretchers, returns, angles and squints.
Standard Plinth or stop ends have dimensions of 215 x 102 x 65mm. The only variations on British standard is PL.1.1’s have a 9mm upstand and PL.1.2’s have a 23mm upstand.
PL2’s commonly known as plinth headers – dimensions are also 215 x 102 x 65mm. PL.2.1 9mm upstand and PL.2.2 23mm upstand.
PL3’s used as plinth stretcher are once again 215 x 102 x 65mm with PL.3.1’s having a 9mm upstand and PL.3.2’s with a 23mm upstand.
